Litho-Art was born in 1951.
The company began as a color separator in a 3,000 square foot area on Varick Street in New York City. It was built on the foundation of creating high quality color separations for the burgeoning printing industry. Through the 1950/60's the company existed as mainly a "prep shop" -- photoengraving, color "seps" and plates. In the late 1960's, under the guidance of President and owner John Weisbrod Sr., Litho-Art bought its first press to branch into the commercial printing industry servicing large pharmaceutical accounts. As additional presses were soon added, the company grew and began to heavily service "Madison Avenue".
John Weisbrod Jr. took the lead from his father and guided Litho-Art in a direction similar to the model that exists today, providing pre-press capabilities, retouching and printing to advertising and promotion agencies, as well as corporate communication, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and graphic design companies. While the printing industry consolidated during the mid to late 1990's, and many companies fled Manhattan, Litho-Art remained steadfast. |

Faced with rising New York City rents, yet inclined to serve our client base effectively by staying local to our clients, Litho-Art began searching for new space. After 50 years of being sited on the 2nd and 3rd floors of 175 Varick Street, Litho-Art was able to relocate within the same building to the main, mezzanine and concourse levels, with our bindery on the 4th floor... Thereby ensuring our company could provide the same effective service to our clients for years to come.
In the year 2000, Linda Weisbrod and Joseph Cashman, formerly the Director of Production were passed the torch to lead Litho-Art into the next generation. Through their stewardship, Litho-Art now exists as one of the most respected full-service graphic communication companies offering digital and electronic media services and extensive sheet-fed printing capabilities.
